    ISI Web of Knowledge listar endast åtta ( 8 ) vetenskapliga artiklar om Apistogramma. Med tanke på de genetiska framstegen som gjorts de senaste 20 åren så får man nog säga att vi inte vet mycket om detta.

        Det finns väldigt många olika Ap arter, men de är väldigt lika i fråga om storlek och med vad de äter.

        Vad är det egentligen som har triggat igång denna mångfald av arter som är så lika varandra?
        Tyvärr gör ju det att man får börja från början och det är inte så attraktivt om systemet inte är unikt på något sätt.

        Det där får jag nog fråga Jon om, men vanlig allopatrisk diversifiering kan ju vara en orsak. De flyttar inte så mycket på sig gissar jag och om en population snörs av så kommer de få lokala anpassningar t ex annan färg pga av andra ljusförhållanden och andra ornament av rena slumspskäl. Det finns forsking som visat att vad honorna väljer varierar över tid (pga av slump) men att de tjänar på att välja samma inom populationen. Det gör ju att populationer utan genflöde "går i otakt" och att en kan gå åt ett annat håll än en annan.

          Det som triggar artbildning i första hand är predatortryck, födo konkurrens och fortplantning.

          Apistogramma släktet är en ganska ung gren på Geophaginernas del av släktträdet.
          Man anser ofta att apistogramma har koloniserat den sydamerikanska kontinenten norrifrån. Och den koloniseringen pågår fortfarande.
          I norr är diversifieringen störst bland apistogramma. Arter har bildats som täcker in de flesta födo och biotop nischerna.

          Ap. Diplotaenia har hittat sin nisch på botten av vidsträckta sandbankar.
          Ap. sp. "White seam" befolkar små svartvattens bäckar bland löv och grenar.
          Exemplen är många.

          Diversifieringen i söder är mindre, och de tre arter som återfinns i söder (Trifasciata, Borellii och Commbrae) är alla "oppurtunistiska arter", eller "riverine species" som Römer väljer att kalla dem i Cichlid atlas. De befolkar alla typer av biotoper och olika vattenvärden.
          Detta skulle tyda på att dessa arter är yngre än de mer specialiserade arterna i norr.

          Ap. Steindachneri som finns i Guyanas vattensystem i norr, har av vissa "experter" kallats "den felande" länken mellan Geophagus och apistogramma. Det skulle då vara den äldsta och mest geophagus liknande arten.

            ...verkar ju relevant för diskussionen om huruvida Apistogramma borelli (och kanske de andra "polymorfa" arterna) egentligen är en eller två arter.
            Jag borde väl ha läst den, men det har jag inte; skall be Jon eller Sven skicka mig en kopia.

            @Pelle: Skulle nog snarare säga att vad som triggar artbildning oftast är geografisk isolering. Just amazonas anses väl vad jag vet upprepade gånger ha torkat ut, så djur & växter isolerats i små restskogar separerade av gräsmarker.

              Zootaxa kom med rätt sent och de lägger inte till tidskrifter retroaktivt så vett jag vet. Och så finns ju inte monografier, böcker eller tidskrifter utan peer review med. Jag ska kolla den där akvatiska databasen vad den nu heter. De är fullständig långt bak på 70-talet.

                  Exakt! glömde att lägga till det. Vissa apisto arter är ju till och med endemiska i vissa isolerade "sjöar/ vattendrag"

                    Ganska off-topic, men jag råkade just hitta en rätt skojig sak om borelli-honor: det finns faktiskt en studie som visar att borelli-ynglen föredrar att följa en fisk-modell som är gul, precis som borelli-honorna är, framför fiskmodeller av annan färg.
                    Så om ni nånsin undrat varför borelli-honor är klargula... nu vet ni. Det är för att hålla ordning på ungjäklarna!

                    Har dock inte hittat något av intresse om borelli-hanarnas färger än.

                      Imponerande lista. Jag antar (hoppas) att han lagt mycket krut på lokala rapporter mm som normalt sett inte når utanför den lokala naturvårdsmyndigheten.

                      ASAFa är en databas för akvatisk och fiskerivetenskap. De listar 40 artiklar (de nästa inlägg). Problemet är att mycket är gammalt och gjort innan de genetiska metoderna gjorde att vi kan säga (lite) mer om vad som hander. Vissa "uppendbara" arter är polymorfism medan andra som "uppenbart" hör till samma art är helt skilda. Och så är ju inte genetik lösningen på allt förstås.

                      Vad det också visar (så få artiklar i ISI WoK) är att mekanismer sällan testats på detta system och att man troligen ska vara extremt försiktig med generella slutsatser som att borellii är en polymorfisk art eller att evolutionen gått till på ena eller andra sättet (artikel 1-3 nedan borde vi alla läsa innan vi förtsätter diskussionen ). Här kan jag förstås ha fel. Jag vet inte. Men hade man gjort den sortens forskning så skulle den finnas i ISI WoK.

                            Det som triggar artbildning i första hand är predatortryck, födo konkurrens och fortplantning.
                            Jag försöker inte vara dryg nu, men undrar -säger vem och varför? Är det menat generellt?

                            Det som "triggar" artbilding är att genpolen delas. Vanligen sker detta med en geografisk barriär (allopatrisk artbildning) eller t ex att olika individer lever på olika ställen (vilket ofta innebär parapatrisk artbildning om de olika habitaten ligger långt från varandra). Sedan har vi sympatrisk artbildning där firrar på samma ställe delas upp i två.

                            Geografisk allopatrisk artbilning är "neutral" på det sättet att firrarna själva inte har med saken att göra. Efteråt diversifieras de av diverse orsaker som olika miljö, predationstryck, födokonkurrens, honval etc.

                            I parapatrisk artbildning så finns det genflöde men delar av populationen parar sig oftare med varandra. Ett exempel är två olika floder med genflöde där de går ihop, eller ett pärlband av arter i en flod. Lokala anpassingar till , predationstryck, födokonkurrens, honval etc gör att firrarna blir olika. Då sker det enligt teorin förstärkning i honval (och hanval) eftersom att firrarnas avkomma har större chans att överleva om partnern är lokalt anpassad.

                            Sympatrisk artbildning saknar geografiska barriärer och uppdelningen sker genom att firrarna t ex äter olika saker eller leker på olika tider. Mest kontroversiellt är att de skulle välja att para sig med olika hanar och att arten "slits isär" och bildar två arter. Detta kan i teorin drivas av ja, igen miljö, predationstryck, födokonkurrens, honval etc.

                              "Shit, vad intressant!" Jag måste skaffa mig sånadåra fiskar så att läsning och egen forskning blir mer intressant. I dagsläget står en Apistogramma art på önskelistan så länge den är vildfångad, men jag behöver nog en till burk för det..


                              Jag skulle vilja säga att det är komparativa fördelar som skapar "nya" arter, skit sållas bort genom naturligt urval.
